Reasons We Love Oxfordshire
We’ve been helping the residents and businesses of Oxfordshire with their roofs for over 35 years and we love the area we live in. Oxfordshire is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful areas of the country; here’s why we love it.
Our home town of Oxford is famous the world over, with Oxford University one of the most important educational institutions in the UK and one of the most famous universities in the world. As well as the university, we’ve got a great nightlife, a castle, botanical gardens and parks, plenty of museums and the famous Eagle and Child pub where J.R.R. Tolkien and C.S Lewis used to meet for their writers’ group.
The Chilterns are situated between London and Oxford and is an area as quintessentially British as you can get. Here you can enjoy the rolling English countryside, visit a number of charming villages with country pubs and go on nature walks with the family.
Rowing has been a major part of Oxfordshire sporting culture since the 1700s, where the very earliest recreational rowers from Oxford University would race. Since then, it’s become a huge part of the identity of the university and city and has seen us take on the Harvard rowing teams countless times. Henley – a town in Oxfordshire – is also steeped in this heritage with its own history twined to the river Thames and the sport of rowing.
The city of Oxford is peppered with stunning examples of architecture. From the gothic spires of the Church of St Mary the Virgin and the classical-inspired U-shaped Sheldonian Theatre, there is so much variety. Just walking around the city for 10 minutes provides you with a litany of examples.
